"There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension": A very fun point-and-click puzzle game
This Friday’s bonus issue for paid subscribers is gonna be a good one! I’m gonna talk about the Netflix movie What Lies Below (not to be confused with the Michelle Pfeiffer movie What Lies Beneath). This one is a horny “thriller” that possibly involves sea monsters and/or aliens? Anyway, this movie is bonkers, and if you’d like to read about it, click below — a subscription is $5 a month or $50 a year.
I love me a good point-and-click adventure game (Monkey Island 4EVA), and after playing through Broken Age last month and absolutely loving it, I was searching for a game to fill that puzzle game-shaped hole in my heart. Well, I think I’ve found it in There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension, which isn’t your typical puzzle adventure game but still provides plenty of entertainment.
The premise of the game is exactly what the title suggests: when it starts up, the voice of the “program” tells you that, sadly, there is no game to play. And it’s up to you to figure out how to play, whether it’s using an exclamation point to play Breakout or navigating through a fake computer desktop for clues to open a locked folder. And when you figure it out, the program is VERY annoyed, and wants to stop you from progressing.
I’m not super far into the game so far (I’ve just begun Chapter 2) but so far, am finding the game thoroughly charming. There’s a hint system if you’re really stuck (although the audio will boo you for using it), but while the puzzles are so challenging, they’re not so challenging that I feel stupid and useless. I can’t wait to play it more! (Curse my day job for not letting me play puzzle games all day.)
There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension is available on Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS.
That’s all for me today, gorgeous! Talk to you soon.
Love,
Kat
