Stuff I saw on the internet last week: "You're basically a glorified sad lizard"
Oh, look, it’s Monday again. What do you mean it’s less than two weeks until May? Time means nothing. Also, Ontario’s on fire and our government is dangerously incompetent. Onto internet things!
Consider throwing a few bucks into Kat Watches Everything!
It’s awesome you’re here and I hope you like and appreciate the work I put into this newsletter. If you really want to show your appreciation, think about getting a paid subscription — it’s just $5 a month (or $50 a year, which is two months free), and you get bonus content pretty much every week. Last Friday, I wrote about the preposterously popular Netflix movie What Lies Below, which is shockingly horny and is about a sea creature and/or an alien. If you want to read about that, click the button below!
On last week’s episode of my podcast, I Hate It But I Love It, Jocelyn and I continued Movie Musical Month with the 1968 Dick Van Dyke musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and all I can say is that I’m so glad I wasn’t high when I watched that movie, because I think I would have lost my mind. And on this Wednesday’s episode, we’re talking about Tom Hooper’s 2012 adaptation of Les Misérables — you should subscribe, if you wanna be cool. (You can find I Hate It But I Love It in all the usual places, including Apple, Spotify, Stitcher, and Pocket Casts.)
TWEETS!
REDDIT!
I wish my cat would lie on me like this, but he just sits on my pillow and tries to eat my hair.
This guy is an asshole, and his replies to comments just double down on his assholishness:
As we were discussing logistics, my daughter kept rubbing her face and touching her hair. She looked really uncomfortable for some reason.
I snapped and was like, "Can you please stop touching your hair? Do you do this during interviews too?" My daughter stopped and just stared into the camera and we kept talking.
Hoooooly shit, your wife fucking sucks:
I then asked where her sister and her boyfriend were staying and she took her time to answer. I asked what's wrong. And she flatout told me That her sister's been staying at my late wife's cabin for 2 weeks now. I was stunned when I heard and I asked her for more clarification. She said she gave her sister a copy of the key to the cabin to stay there til she finds a job. Then proceeded to say she didn't tell me because it wasn't a huge deal. I couldn't help but lose my temper, I told her she had no right to hide this from me and let her sister into the cabin knowing how I'd feel about it. She said my reaction was the exact reason whynshe hid it from me. I called her selfish and inconsiderate of my feelings but she argued about wanting to help her younger sister and said I was the selfish one for not helping family during tough times.
You don’t get to parent other people’s kids, especially when they tell you what they need to feel safe:
Nighttime came and everyone gave me their phones except for my daughters friend. She said that she felt more comfortable keeping her phone in case of an emergency. I told her if there was an emergency she can come wake me and my husband up. She then told me she really didn't feel comfortable with that in case she wanted to text her mom to sleep. I told her if that was the case that she needed to just go home because in our house the rule is no phones in the bedroom, period.
More good stuff from r/HobbyDrama, this time a continuation of Dilbert creator Scott Adams being a total prick:
The reality is that women are treated differently by society for exactly the same reason that children and the mentally handicapped are treated differently. It’s just easier this way for everyone. You don’t argue with a four-year old about why he shouldn’t eat candy for dinner. You don’t punch a mentally handicapped guy even if he punches you first. And you don’t argue when a women tells you she’s only making 80 cents to your dollar. It’s the path of least resistance. You save your energy for more important battles.
What a shitty sibling!! I feel bad for their sister:
I pitched taking them all to Disney land since my kids love it and their kids have never been. Normally they couldn’t afford the trip but I decided to pitch in and help them out - I feel like my little nieces/nephews deserved it after being cooped up inside for a year. My childfree sister was also invited but she couldn’t afford it.
She found out I was helping the others and asked if I could help her out as well - which I declined. She’s been bitter towards me since, saying I was trying to exclude her from the family, etc. Am I the asshole for not wanting to pay all this extra money to bring her on a trip to Disneyland meant for the children - she doesn’t even like hanging out with kids. I’m fine if she comes but I just don’t wanna pay for it.
