Stuff I saw on the internet last week
Happy Monday! Time to look at the Tweets, Reddit posts, Tumblr posts, articles, and podcasts I consumed last week that I think you should experience, too.
TWEETS!
I full-on guffawed at this one:
Love a good cat and love a good pun:
This is one of those tweets I’m angry that I didn’t come up with:
I used TikTok for about three weeks before deleting it out of privacy concerns, but I still miss it:
Accurate:
Just don’t think about it, just don’t think about it:
I was unprepared:
REDDIT!
This video is absolutely incredible and did nothing to help me understand how he edits them.
I love this cat who insists on getting into his own container so he can take baths with his human without getting wet:
Oh my god I would have murdered this man with my bare hands:
My dad heard my wife was in labor but told me he needed me on this presentation. He said there was nothing I could do to help my wife and delivery and seeing the baby come out was overrated and people don’t prepare your for the gore.
He said he needed me to rest up and make myself presentable for the presentation.
My wife’s labor was progressing very slowly and we were all certain she would need forceps or other assistance to deliver the babies.
I realized that I couldn’t help her here, and my dad was counting on me, so I told her I needed to leave.
She started screaming at me so loudly that a few nurses rushed over to our room.
I ended up doing the presentation with the clients and things went well.
This sounds like a really good way to get your daughter to never speak to you once she turns 18:
I asked Amy why she keeps avoiding her Aunt, but then Amy blew up at me. Amy started yelling and crying about how horrible Aunt Helen is to her, and how she always makes Amy feel like crap. Amy also said that Helen is very mentally abusive towards her and is a gaslighter. I got very angry and told Amy that she’s overreacting, that Helen does/says things out of love and that she can’t help it. Amy continued to yell and cry about how “horrible” her aunt is. I told Amy that she was acting like a spoiled brat, and I proceeded to take her phone and all of her electronics away from her.
TUMBLR!
I don’t think this feeling ever goes away, tbh:

I can’t believe this never caught on:

Any cat owner will tell you that this is 100% accurate:

I mean, this pick-up line would absolutely work on me:

This is absolutely the most disorienting feeling ever:

ARTICLES!
The Afflictions of the Comfortable — this is incredibly well written and the way it juxtaposes the excerpts from the writers’ quarantine journals with actual facts is perfectly jarring.
Sexist Men Less Likely To Fear Drowning In Their Own Lung Fluids, Apparently — gotta love that men are catching COVID to own the libs, I guess.
Gun Enthusiasts Celebrate Man Who Shot Himself in the Balls as Their King — I mean, the headline says it all.
Holland Taylor Answers Every Question We Have About Legally Blonde — I love Holland Taylor and this interview is excellent.
PODCASTS!
First, some shameless self promotion: last week’s episode of my podcast is about Splash, and it’s basically us making a bunch of jokes about fish sex and me getting annoyed that Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah want to get married when the mermaid doesn’t have any ID.
Really loved the most recent episode of Not Great about the whole Ellen show debacle — Ellen’s whole “be kind” shtick has long seemed like bullshit and the recent news about the show’s toxic culture is, sadly, not surprising.
I love Jason Mantzoukas and I especially love every time he’s on Reply All, so having him on to do his own “Yes, Yes, No” episode was delightful to listen to.
I’m working my way through the Boom Bust podcast about the rise and fall of HQ Trivia — it was a game and an app that occupied a shockingly large part of my mind for about six months a few years ago, and it was the same for a lot of people. I’m relishing the behind-the-scenes deets.
That’s all for me today. Talk to you soon, lovelies!
Love,
Kat
